Traveling is one of my greatest passions, and recently I had the opportunity to go on a day trip from Brussels to Luxembourg and Dinant. This journey, offered by GetYourGuide, was an unforgettable experience that I can't wait to share with you.
Start in Brussels Central
My adventure started early in the morning in Brussels. The start location is at Bd de Berlaimont 18 and can easily be reached by taking the train to Brussels Central.
A coach will be waiting for you ready to go towards Luxembourg and the beautiful city of Dinant. A guide will explain to you everything you see along the way.
The ride will be around 3 hours before we set sight on Luxembourg.
Discovering Luxembourg
The first stop was Luxembourg City, a place where history and modernity coexist harmoniously. The city’s beautiful main square, parks and rich cultural heritage make it a must-visit destination.
Highlights in Luxembourg City:
The Grand Ducal Palace: This magnificent palace is the official residence of the Grand Duke of Luxembourg. Its ornate façade and regal presence set the tone for the historical richness of the city.
Notre-Dame Cathedral: An exquisite Gothic structure that exudes peace and serenity. The intricate details and stunning stained-glass windows are awe-inspiring.
Place d'Armes: A lively square surrounded by delightful cafes and shops, perfect for a quick coffee or a leisurely stroll.
I also had some free time to explore on my own. I took this opportunity to wander through the old town, taking in the local life. The blend of French and German influences in the city's culture and cuisine was particularly fascinating.
A Scenic Drive to Dinant
After a fulfilling morning in Luxembourg, we are headed to Dinant. This time we go for a 1,5 hour drive before arriving in front of the gignatic Notre Dame of Dinant next to the Meuse River.
Highlights in Dinant:
Dinant Citadel: Perched high on a cliff, the citadel offers breathtaking views of the town and the river below. The climb is a bit challenging, but the panoramic vistas are well worth the effort.
Collegiate Church of Notre Dame: This iconic Gothic church, with its distinctive onion-shaped dome, is a testament to Dinant’s rich architectural heritage.
The Saxophone Connection: Dinant is the birthplace of Adolphe Sax, the inventor of the saxophone. The town celebrates this musical heritage with various saxophone-themed art installations and a museum dedicated to Sax’s life and work.

The Return to Brussels
As the day drew to a close, I boarded the coach for the return journey to Brussels. The bus had airconditioning which was really nice during the hot summer (which is not often in Belgium).
I really enjoyed this trip and for me Dinant was the highlight and the bus ride was very beautiful to go through the nature of Wallonia.
If you're planning to visit Brussels and are looking for a memorable day trip, I highly recommend booking through GetYourGuide. It's a journey you won't regret and an experience you'll cherish for a lifetime. This is the trip:
Happy travels!
