Why Travel to Bruges?
Bruges is like stepping into a fairytale, and it’s one of my absolute favorite places for a weekend getaway in Belgium! Known as the “Venice of the North,” this charming city is filled with beautiful canals, cobblestone streets, and medieval buildings that make it feel like time has stood still.
Of course, the highlights like the Belfry Tower, Markt Square, and the serene Minnewater Lake are unmissable, but I’ll share some of my personal tips, too.
Take a peaceful canal boat ride to see the city from the water, or escape the crowds by visiting the quiet Begijnhof. Don’t forget to stop by a local chocolate shop for some of the best pralines in Belgium (my personal favorite is Dumon). And for beer lovers, a visit to the Dulle Griet is a must.

Bruges is crisscrossed by canals, and taking a canal tour offers a unique perspective on the city. These boat tours are popular in warmer months and let visitors see hidden gardens, beautiful old houses, and historic bridges from the water.
Book them upfront to be sure to have a seat during peak season.
The best tours are:
